The Table Or The People Around You?

Text: 2 Corinthians 6:14

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”

MESSAGE

Scientifically, darkness has nothing of its own; it is merely the physical absence of light. When light is present, darkness vanishes instantly because darkness has no independent energy or power to fight back.

Darkness is not a physical thing. It is just what we call the space where light does not reach.

Light travels at top speed, meaning the moment a light source turns on, it fills the space and removes the shadow.

Because we cannot measure darkness; we can only measure the level of light, people often use light and darkness as symbols for opposites, like truth versus ignorance, or good versus evil.

In 2 Corinthians 6:14, light and darkness represent completely different forces that cannot mix or share a partnership.

Light shows what is hidden in the dark, meaning truth naturally exposes hidden wrongs.

I’ve attend few social gatherings in my very short life, and one of my greatest learnt and take away lessons is the futility in sitting on the better table, with the wrong people.

I therefore don’t just sit on any table or with anybody. I choose better tables of life, knowing that quality company on a better table is unique and priceless. “A companion of fools shall be destroyed,” but “in the multitude of counsel there is safety.”

So don’t only desire a seat at a better table; desire the right people to sit with you. A great table can give you access, but it is the right company that gives you peace, joy, wisdom, growth, purpose fulfillment and meaning in life.

Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

Psalms 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Psalms 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Psalms 1:4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Psalms 1:5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

Psalms 1:6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

2 Corinthians 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

2 Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

2 Corinthians 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Don’t chase the table and lose the right people. I pray for you, that you will both have the right table and the right company in Jesus name. Amen.

St. Matthew 10:19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. St. Matthew 10:20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

Loneliness because you belong to Jesus Christ is the price you pay to build yourself up, and the greatest thing you can build is yourself in Him, with you decreasing and Him increasing in your life that His glory in you may be made manifest.

Truth is, “The mind does not fear the truth first. It fears the life the truth will demand. That is why denial feels calm. It postpones a decision, not a consequence.” No wonder we get the wages of sin, which is death.

Believers should understand that sometimes our prayers are answered but the answer is No!

In other word, “You cannot think your way into becoming the person only your actions can introduce. When the storm beats the tree, many birds fly away—but the one that remains through the thunder is the one that truly calls it home.”

Is sin not attractive to you?

Sin keeps inviting you, “Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you’ll be able to see further, for you are a magnet for success and opportunities.”

Beloved, all that ends in this world. You will soon discovered, albeit too late that all that gilliters are not gold, and that vanity upon vanity, is a life lived without Jesus Christ.

Remember that one day you will wake up and do things for the last time without knowing it’s the last time. The sleep or that going out or coming in, eating, fighting, quarrelling etc will look normal, yet will be the last time! Nothing extra ordinary except that you would have said good night on the earthly side and find yourself woke up on the otherside of the terrestrial. There you have welcome to your eternity in heaven or hell, on the right or left side of Jesus who you obeyed or betrayed, condemned, rejected and ignored when you had the opportunity to accept on earth.

Unfortunately, you cannot and have not the luxury of a repeat journey! Then you will remember the saying that, “Most betrayals begin long before trust is broken. They begin the day curiosity ends. The moment someone believes they no longer need to understand you, they begin speaking to a memory instead of a person.”

Accept and follow Jesus now.
