What and Who are you living for
Text: Hebrews 9:27
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”
Message
Your answer may be “I don’t know, nothing or anything,” but following the Truth that sanctify by His Word, the only correct and acceptable answer is when you say as Apostle Paul, “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is great gain” (Philippians 1:21).
By His grace, I at a particular time came to the knowledge of sin and to call sin by its name,l. At another time, I stopped being wantonly jealous of others, then to not letting others determine my joy, peace, and response to issues and people. From there to being not careless and negligent about how I spend my short leave on earth, etc. Now I know that the just shall live by faith-a deep spiritual truth and principles to live with and by!
My journey to heaven is ongoing project and pilgrimage, and I am learning every day for many reasons. One to watch over my salvation with fear and trembling as sanctification is a progressive unending journey until death when I shall be transformed in His image. Two, when I came to the knowledge of the spiritual principle, that it is given unto men to die only once after that, judgment and that I will account to God for everything I do in this world. Three, when I realized that I was created for and have a purpose line drawn for me by my maker. Fourth, the night is unfolding, the strength is fading, and my youthfulness and its attributes were saying, “You will one day be left alone. The D day – the Day of Death. The sign out phase of all the living.
Birth and death are not choices made for between birth and death. Our purpose is either lived or not lived. So, I am not wantonly jealous of others. That’s if at all jealous as there is no one without his bag of blessings and particular challenges in life. I am not letting others determine my joy and peace and response to issues and people. I take personal responsibility for these and give no power others don’t have over me. Now I respond instead of reacting. Time and patience are each and both God-given revealers of secrets. You can hide but not forever. Chicken will come home to roast!
Death requires no prerequisites, particularly if at a departure lounge, and at a ripe age.
If in expectancy of death, man could not cure biles and forgive wrong where lieth honour? If, as the last breath whimpers away, life, lies, and peace are yet subdued, where lieth honour?
A life lived in full consciousness yet could not leave honourable and purposeful memories that could only be adone with a veneer of honour out of courtesy. Truth is the givers of plastic or golden carved steel honors are themselves dishonourably dishonest!Hitler got honours.
Moselini was honoured.
Even Muritala was honoured. Despite strings of errors that bedded the fundamental errors of our nation.
Should death confer automatic honours or the acts of the departed souls should be the basis for honour. I daily pray I could live honourably. In consciousness of my errors, I pray for the strength to transcend the pull of evil. I recommend you should be the prayer of the living. In this light, Job wrote:
“Job 14:7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
Job 14:8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
Job 14:9 Yet through the scent of water, it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
Job 14:10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
Job 14:11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
Job 14:12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
Job 14:13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!
Job 14:14 If a man dies, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
Job 14:15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
Job 14:16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
Job 14:17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.
Job 14:18 And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.
Job 14:19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
Job 14:20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
Job 14:21 His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.
Job 14:22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.”
“Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Hebrews 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.”
May you begin to live out His spiritual principles for your life. Amen.
