Daily Devotional

Sincere and unintentionally wrong

Text: Gen 20:5

“Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.”

Message

A person of integrity or innocence of heart one that is living rightly, not divided, nor being a different person in different circumstances.

 

One would think a man with integrity and innocence of heart should always get it right, but that’s not always the case.

 

You can be sincerely and unintentioally wrong sometimes.

 

Yes, we can hold a belief or opinion with genuine sincerity and conviction, but ultimately still be incorrect. It is thus important to acknowledge that even with the purest intentions, a person can still make mistakes and hold incorrect beliefs. 

 

Moses said they won’t believe him, but because God is with him, he ascended leadership.

 

Gideon, Manasseh saw limited opportunity in being few, but life is not by strength or power but by His Spirit.

 

King David saw another man’s wife as a spoil but paid dearly for it.

 

Joshua thought haven defeated big Jericho, Ai, a dot on the map was Israel for the asking. That was not to be as he lost many of his soldiers and men in the war between the horse and the ant.

 

King Saul thought David was a walk over he paid with his life. Same for Goliath.

 

The Syrian chiefs were good in watching stars, rainfall, vegetation etc but failed when their agricultural experience failed them. They saw it but did not eat out of it.

 

Prophet Elijah thought he was the only one serving God but soon realized that there were other thousands!

 

The family of Lazarus thought a smelling Lazarus is a no-go area, but Lazarus lived many years an Evangelist thereafter.

 

Namaan and the woman with the issue of blood thought big hospitals and medics would heal but soon knew they only care and God is the healer

 

The disciples of Jesus thought he was still in the tomb only to meet an empty tomb.

 

While our list is endless, one thing is clear, we need not trust in our understanding and judgment but to commit to and trust God’s in every situation.
