A rumour monger is person who spreads rumors. His act is rumormongering.

 

Rumour mongers suffers from character deficit.

 

The synonyms for rumormonger includes babbler, blabbermouth, busybody, chatterbox, chatterer, flibbertigibbet, gossiper, gossipmonger, informer, meddler, newsmonger, parrot, prattler, scandal monger, snoop, tabby, talebearer, taleteller, tattle, tattler, tattletale, telltale, and whisperer.

 

Oxford dictionary defines rumour as unsubstantiated, often false stories that spread through a community person to person by word of mouth in a manner rather similar to the spread of communicable diseases.

 

A rumor is a story or piece of information that may or may not be true, but that people are talking about.

It means an interesting story or piece of news that may or may not be true, that spreads quickly from person to person.

 

‘Rumor has it’ is an expression used when suggesting you might have heard something or read about something that is taking place now or in the future. A rumor is not a fact.

On the one hand, Scripture speaks strongly against gossip. Ask them (tactfully) to talk about something else, and tell them that you’re trying to break yourself of the negative gossip habit. You’ll find that many people will actually thank you.

Say something polite yet direct, like: “Hey. I want you to know that I don’t appreciate the things you’ve been saying about me. Please stop.” Then, just walk away—this person doesn’t deserve your time. Ignore any insults you hear as you’re walking away.
