Needless Comparison

Text: 2 Corinthians 10:12

“For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.”

Message

When we rate God’s goodness to us on the basis of others we demean God and ourselves and call him a liar. Consider it, doing it is evidence that either we don’t have faith in the word of God or we don’t have an understanding of what we profess. Neither of them is good!

Time and times I think, why should what we want be the definition of success.

If we are of God and led by His Spirit why isn’t our definition of success anchored to Him and what He’s communicated to us in His Word, word of knowledge, revelation, divine inner heart witness, dream, vision, prophecy etc?

Just as mandate, vision and mission are not universal but personal so are timing, aims and objectives. Each person delivers as ordained and no one can fast track or outrun God’s timing and season.

The word of God *only* is sufficient for a revelation of who God is (to us) and who we are (in God’s sight). When this is firmly settled, no tree, no animal, no witch, not even an angel can change, delay or defeat our destiny. All things work together for good for those that love God and are called according to his purpose.

Instead, the question we ask should include: Can I change my approach to issues? Am I practically knowledgeable enough in God’s thought, will, timing and plans concerning me? How can I upgrade myself to a god over my situation? Am I employable for use to give birth to the miracle embedded in me? How much of a global player in God’s scheme am I? Do I understand why God kept me alive inspite of all?

If all of one’s focus is here on earth, then ask the Bill Gates, the Dangotes and all the worldly successful people because they passed through and are still passing through.

Let’s channel our praises and prayers to our God. He answers and delivers no matter the obstacle.

Let us distinguish between the doctrine of God and the doctrines of men; and the only way we can is if we read, study, meditate and stay within the ambit of the Scriptures. Ask questions? Crosscheck those answers with the Scriptures again and again knowing that no word of God is of any private interpretation.

We shouldn’t be fooled by those who would want to force their relevance, success, failures and achievements into our lives. They won’t tell you the real or full story.

Remember that fear, mere wishes, ignorance are yokes but knowledge of the word of God brings about freedom.

You are free indeed for Jesus Christ has set you free. Work and walk in this knowledge, understanding, revelation and wisdom.

God bless you.
