Be Sometimes Unpredictable

Text: John 6:6

But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.”

Message

God, six days in a roll commanded everything to be and they were. He could have done the same when it came to man but He retreated. He created man in his own image and likeness. So we are the work of his hands! That’s unpredictability.

In today’s text Jesus likewise made himself unpredictable. He knew what He would do yet asked advice from his disciples!

You are so predictable that you can be made angry just by the pressing of that usual button in your life.

Moses a stammerer was given to annoyance as people of his handicap are won’t to do. He struck the stone than once and missed out setting his foots in Canaan.

Reuben was predictably unstable, he lost out his due inheritance of being a first born.

Saul was given to people pleasing and envy of the achievement of others. He lost his kingship to David his self chosen adversary.

That reminds me. I was long time ago encouraging a senior colleague to stop his amorous relationship with his senior brother’s wife. I threatened him with the damning consequences if caught. He responded, I go 8pm because my brother will always sleep outside on any journey if he cannot return home at 7pm”. He and his brother’s wife took advantage of his predictability!

While being predictable is the professional norm, being sometimes unpredictable is wisdom dictates and better norm. This is because being predictable has it’s dark side. For instance, Professor Peller was reportedly killed at 7pm, at Onipanu Lagos; they knew he would  always remove all the magical charms on his body whenever he’s praying Maghrib at 7pm in his house at Onipanu.

Early morning tea was his favourite, he loved tea like he loves his women, all they needed to do was, do the tea and give him to sip. *M K O Abiola* paid the price of being predictable.

Alhaja Ajagbe Iyaloja Oworo market will always come out every 5am to perform ablutions instead of using her bathroom at times . She was reportedly found lying lifeless on the floor killed by hired killers. Another price of being predictable.

He is a protocol type of a man. He usually tear his mail himself to read instead of his Chief Security Officer. He tore a letter bomb one day thinking it was the kind of mail he receives day to day as usual. *Dele Giwa* paid the price of being predictable.

Jesus taught us in diverse ways that while being predictable is very professional, it always lead to nasty regrets. Thus he constantly apply military intelligence in carrying out miracles. It’s from “you are healed” to “release him now”, then, “Your sins are forgive” or “Who sinned?” etc.

Now, are you wiser than Jesus?

If you have been taking a route to your office, please change it sometimes!

If you always arrive by 9, you’re dead mate, change it!  Do not let people know that. “E go soon come, e go soon drive pass, na dis road e dey pass, na here e dey eat, na dis food e dey like, he must leave office or shop by 5pm. He always lodge in this hotel when he comes to Abuja for meeting” is a killer!

Predictability is like Perception. Both are ways of looking at, dealing with, and living life.

Do not perceive the world as it is but as it can be, and never follow the crowd’s opinions and beliefs about what is possible for you and your life.

Never give in to the call of mediocrity but stand up for yourself and shape the world as you want it to be. Remember, never allow other people’s perceptions or your predictability to define or end you.

Remember that if you are going to achieve excellence in big things, the habit is developed in little matters, such as unpredictability.

Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude that works with you constantly knowing what you will do and most times confusing your opponent.

If you can’t do the little things right, you will never do the big things right. Because it’s the little details that are vital and Little things make big things happen.

Shalom.
