Fighting the good fight
Text: 2 Timothy 4:6-8
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” (NIV)
Message
You are on course with Jesus on your side, are diligent at work, and have faith that you will end well.
A songwriter says, “My tomorrow must be greater than today.” The import of this song is that how we end our life is more important than how we started it.
How you asked?
Jesus was born in a manger, of which some said, “Can anything good come out of Nazaret?”
Moses was a fool at 40! He still has time to be wise. Moses left Egypt at 40 without anything. Yet, he returned and overtook all those he left in Egypt. This buttress the saying that, “There is no deadline to make a headline.”
After much failure, Colonel Sanders succeeded with KFC in his 60s. This shows that your time is your time, irrespective of how old you are!
When did Prince Charles become King?
At 73!
Meanwhile, you believe the lie that you are a failure because you have not made it at 41?
You still have time!
Don’t compare in life. Everybody and things have their time.
Keep and run on your lane. By so doing, you will stand prepared for life.
Remember that life is not how fast. It is how far.
Completing or finishing your life course is by far better than competing with others in life. Life is a one man race!
Focus on your vision and get provision for your mission, which is the solution for retrogression in life.
Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 4:6-8, (NIV), wrote:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
The summary of Apostle writing is that only Jesus satisfies
Action Points
1. Know the will of Jesus and his call upon you. One will of God is the ministry of reconciliation. Another is evangelism. Yet the biggest is love that compels giving, hospitality, and charity.
2. Do His Will. That is obey the will of God. Paul tells, “Tell Archipus to give heed to the call of God upon him.” You have a call to do and do obediently.
3. Finish the will of God. From our todays text, there is no doubt that Paul reached the finished line, and he knew it.
4. Let the flock be fed without which it is impossible for us to reproduce the next generation.
Until we do all these and more, we can not earn, “Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into God rest.”
Brethren, fight the good fight, finish the race, and keep the faith.
Remember, “Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” (NIV)
May God help us.
