Message
1 Thessalonians 5:1-18 stresses we need not worry because and indeed God Loves us. In the contrary and sadly many of us are Worry Generals!
What do we specialize in?
My mates are getting married, getting good jobs, succeeding, living overseas, buying cars, and building houses.
The scripture in our mind and disposition is; My mates are this. My mates are that.
It’s a pity we literally forgot about our mates in the mortuary, Psychiatric homes, those roaming on the streets, are jobless, hungry, blind, deaf, lame etc
Truth is you might not be where you wish to be but you have obviously transcended from where you were yesterday. Be thankful.
Do you know that many who slept yesterday did not wake up today? Some of your mates are there in jail without committing any crime? You ate last night but some didn’t or couldn’t. You have work or at least definite source for daily living while some have nothing to look up to.
Truth is You are not alive because you are faithful or because you have never sinned before. We’re sinners but God showed us mercy!
It is the MERCY of God that kept you alive. INDEED GOD LOVES YOU! God still has plans for you before the year ends. It is this light that all of Lamentations 3:22–33; Psalm 30 and 2 Corinthians 8:1–9 agreed that, “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end”. In the contrary they are new everyday, daily loading but only the spiritual can discern or appreciate the Lord’s wonderful love.
What is the steadfast love of the Lord?
The meaning of the word steadfast is strong devotion or loyalty to a person, belief, or cause. Steadfast is defined as unchanging, firmly fixed in place, immovable, and not subject to change. This word is used to describe God’s love for us; an unchanging love that reveals His character and nature.
What does the steadfast of the Lord never ceases mean?
The steadfast and never ceasing love of God is a promise of His faithfulness over our lives. His love is demonstrated through Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection and they are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness!
What does steadfast mean biblically?
To be steadfast is to be firmly fixed and not subject to change, to be firm in belief and determination, and to be loyal and faithful. Likewise, to be immovable is to be unyielding and incapable of being moved or diverted.
How does God demonstrate his steadfast love?
God doesn’t just declare his love; he shows his love. He shows his love by keeping his promises, even when his people don’t keep theirs. He shows his love by rescuing his people out of slavery and oppression. He shows his love by forgiving us, even when we forsake him for idols of our own making again and again.
Lamentations 3:22-23 assures us of God’s unfailing love and abundant mercy. It reminds us that His faithfulness is not limited by our circumstances or failures. Each new day is an opportunity to experience His grace and compassion.
You may ask, how can I be steadfast in the Lord’s love?
It is by continually and faithfully re-aligning with Christ. We cannot do better by simply trying harder. We need constant connection with Jesus to live out the Gospel. Paul did and then asks the church to pray for him to have opportunities to share the Gospel and to know what to say.
Why do we need to be steadfast in the Lord?
We need steadfast faith to keep us in pursuit of the Lord even when life gets difficult. There is no shortage of distractions that seek to subtly pull us away from God. Worldly pressure can ensnare us through intimidation to fit its mold. But James 1:2-4 encourages, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
May God help us to appreciate his love and those of others in our lives and not take love for granted, in derision or handle live by careless assumptions or entitlement mentality in Jesus Mighty Name.
Heavenly Father, we humbly lift up those battling with the spirit of fear and undergoing unspeakable pain, asking did God really love me that you divinely intervene and give them the evidence and manifestation that will let them be rest assured of your unwavering love.
May Your healing touch bring immediate restoration and enduring health to us in our spirit and physically.
As we face uncertainties, we seek refuge in Your protective embrace. Let Your mercy and love shield our homes, workplaces, and nations from calamities.
Father Grant us strength to trust in You, knowing that the shadow of Your wings is our refuge.
We pray for peace, healing, and divine protection.
We claim the promise of God in Psalm 57:1, finding solace in Your unwavering love in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
