Deep sadness and You!
Text: Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
“3.1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
3:2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;”
Message
Life is up and down, and nothing is new under the sun says the preacher, who goes on to say inferentially that there is time to meet and a time to part. Nothing last for ever. Even our love for self or others is untill death do us part!
Life is in itself a fake bus stop! No sadness or joy, except the joy that you belong to Jesus will last you forever! If you think otherwise, ask those who have come and gone or those around you with greater life experiences.
Beloved my eyes have seen, and ears have heard what the Spirit is saying. I have seen weeping in the night, and my joy comes to my address in the morning.
Now, to be sad is to be affected by unhappiness or grief. It is to be sorrowful or mournful or to feel unhappy usually because a “close friend” has moved away or died or that something bad has happened.
Sadness is a sorrow of the heart. Thus, it is an emotional state that is characterized by feelings of unhappiness and low mood.
Sadness is considered one of the basic human emotions. It is a normal response to situations that are upsetting, painful, or disappointing. Sometimes, these feelings can feel more intense, while in other cases, they might be fairly mild.
Being sad is infectious as being shamed or disgraced. It affects the victim and his or her wellwishers alike as it drains their joy and give the mockers, tale bearers, gossipers, and every other unfriendly friend and foes cause to say and feel that they have seen their wish come to pass.
SAD in medicine and psychology is a seasonal affective disorder and a type of depression. It happens during certain seasons of the year, most often fall or winter. It is thought that shorter days and less daylight may set off a chemical change in the brain, leading to symptoms of depression.
In people with SAD, changes in serotonin and melatonin disrupt normal daily rhythms. As a result, they can no longer adjust to seasonal changes in day length, leading to sleep, mood, and behaviour changes.
Depression is a cause and effect thing when SAD sets in and is allowed to create mood disorders that cause a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest.
SAD is also called major depressive disorder or clinical depression. It affects how you feel, think, and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems.
Symptoms of Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) includes; a persistent low mood, a loss of pleasure or interest in normal everyday activities, feeling irritable, feelings of despair, guilt and worthlessness, low self-esteem, tearfulness, feeling stressed or anxious and a reduced sex drive.
Living with untreated sadness, depression and anxiety can cause significant issues for your mental and physical health.
Researchers have discovered how depression and anxiety affect the body, either by making existing health problems worse or causing severe problems to develop. If one continues to stick around it, the more likely it is to elevate stress hormones like cortisol, which can screw with your blood sugar, blood pressure, and sleep quality!
While sadness may look bad, it is not the case when we don’t prolong it. In such situation it just serves as an important function by helping us respond to our circumstances in ways that set us up to take better care of our emotional health and well-being, learning and prepare for a happier and more joyous future. How I wish we all knew this?
Sadly, though life is a lesson where we live to learn, with every experience, a teacher, a mistake, a lesson, and every triumph, a testament to our strength, many quickly gets down with each knock down of life until they come and end the harm way.
Perhaps this explains you, I write that you learn to embrace the journey of life with all its ups and downs. In the end, it’s not about the destination but the growth, wisdom, and resilience we gain along the way.
Truth is, every sunrise brings a fresh start. So, embrace the possibilities and make each of your day amazing: a new day, full of new opportunities!
Believe in God. Believe in yourself and your abilities. You are stronger than you think and capable of achieving anything you set your mind to.
Remember, every day is a chance to start again, to learn from yesterday’s mistakes, and to create a better tomorrow. Beloved, keep learning, keep growing, and keep shining. Go out there and crush it!
Your strength is not in your own might, but in the One who carries you.
Don’t give up, You are not alone. God’s grace is sufficient for you, and His power is made perfect in your weakness. Rest in Him, and let His love revive your spirit. You will surely rise again. That’s the end story of the glory of Nehimah rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem.
Receive grace to go and rebuild the broken walls of you life now without fail in Jesus name.
Amen.
