God Has Not Given Us The Spirit of Fear
Text: 2 Timothy 1:7
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
message:
The news on social media, strange happenings around us, and even the battles in our personal lives can shake anyone. It’s easy to feel anxious, overwhelmed, and on edge.
But in the middle of the noise, God is speaking one word to you: “Fear not.”
He knows there are things that can startle us. He knows the weight of the problems we carry. Yet He tells us again and again that He is in control.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” – Isaiah 41:10
God has not given us the spirit of fear. That means fear is not from Him. What He has given us is a better package:
The spirit of power – to overcome every challenge. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” – Philippians 4:13
The spirit of love – to walk in peace with God and with men. “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear” – 1 John 4:18
A sound mind – to think clearly and not panic.
How do we maintain a sound mind in a world full of chaos? By meditating on God’s word.
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” – Joshua 1:8
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63
When you fill your heart with God’s word daily, you are revived. Fear loses its grip, and you begin to walk in power, love, and clarity. The Word becomes your shield and your rear guard.
“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” – Psalm 119:11
Beloved, do not walk in fear. Walk by faith. The same God who calmed the storm is walking with you through your storm.
You are not a child of fear, you are a child of God. As you meditate on His word, you will remain calm, confident, and victorious.
“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” – 1 John 5:4
Prayers:
- Father, I reject the spirit of fear. Fill me afresh with Your Spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. Let Your peace rule my heart today in Jesus’ name.
- Lord, help me to meditate on Your word day and night. Let Your word be my shield and strength. Cause me to walk by faith and experience good success in every area of my life. Amen
