Our chosen text turn upside down, and interpreted in the mundane as the sons of Sceva did has become a willing and useful tool for the demonstrations of powers which are not, and cannot be attributed to the Holy Spirit, but an imitation of her.
To imitate is to copy, fake, counterfeit, follow, adulterate, manipulate, tamper with another’s copyright. It is to mimic the behaviour, appearance, or style of someone or something else. It implies taking a model or example and reproducing it closely
Yes, in Matthew 7:16, Jesus said, “By their fruits you shall know them.” Sadly, fruits is today not the exclusive definition of power source! Not in this era of grafting, parasiteology, A’I and seedless trees!
Just as, “They will gather teachers who tell them what their itching ears want to hear ” so are we witnessing in our days, the demonstrations of powers that imitates the the Holy Spirit, as their source (2 Timothy 4:3).
These fake powers are many and varied, and unless we are helped by the spirit of discernment from the Holy Spirit, we may fall for them as being genuine. These imitating powers include:
Powers from money, using money and what money can buy as proof of genuine spirituality. These includes “naming your seed”, and “asking for “debt‑breaking anointing” which Daddy
Kenneth Higgins in his book, “The Midas Touch: A Balanced Approach to Biblical Prosperity,” (2000), admonished all to remember that even, “Drug traffickers have money too” and that, “Wealth is not a sign of spirituality.”
Powers manipulating people with faith formulas for personal gain or the exploitation of others. A good example, “40 Laws of …..”
Powers equating every miracle as proofs of the prescence, authorization, approval, and backing of the Holy Spirit. They harp on without miracles, no one will believe. This position is not faith. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). If you have seen it, there is nothing left to faith-believed!
May God help to shield us away from powers that are not from Him.
When Jesus is with and for you, the chapter you are about to enter will make every painful page before it makes sense. Keep the faith. Approach the Throne of Grace boldly. Things shall for you get so much excellently better earlier than you expected.
