The Cost of Delayed Obedience
Text: Hebrews 3:15
Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.

To obey is better than sacrifice.
Message:
Delayed obedience is often disguised as careful consideration.
One of the enemy’s favorite words is not No, It’s Later. Because he knows something we often forget.
If he can’t convince you to disobey God, he’ll try to convince you to postpone obeying Him.
“I’ll forgive them… eventually.”
“I’ll start praying consistently… next week.”
“I’ll share the gospel… when the opportunity is better.”
“I’ll give… when I have more.”
“I’ll answer God’s call… after I’ve figured everything out.”
We call it wisdom, God often calls it delay.
The tragedy of delayed obedience isn’t just that we put off what God has asked us to do, it’s that we postpone experiencing what God wanted to do through our obedience.
Imagine if Noah had waited another year before building the ark.
Imagine if Abraham had postponed leaving his homeland.
Imagine if Peter had decided to step out of the boat after the storm had ended.
Many of God’s greatest works were experienced on the other side of immediate obedience.
Obedience has a window, not because God is impatient, but because His timing is perfect.
There are moments when God says, “Go” our greatest mistake is replying, “I’ll think about it.”
How many blessings have we delayed because we delayed our obedience?
How many prayers have gone unanswered not because God refused to act, but because we refused to move?
God rarely reveals the tenth step while we’re standing at the first.
He asks us to trust Him with today’s instruction.
That’s why delayed obedience is so dangerous. It feels responsible, it sounds reasonable, it even masquerades as maturity.
But underneath it often lies fear. Fear of failure, fear of uncertainty, fear of what obedience might cost us.
Yet every act of obedience carries a promise:
God goes with those who follow Him, you don’t have to know the entire journey, you only need enough faith for the next step.
So if God has been speaking to your heart…Don’t negotiate, don’t postpone, don’t wait for perfect conditions.
The best time to obey God was when He first spoke, the second-best time is now.
Prayer
Father,
Forgive me for the times I have delayed what You made clear.
Give me a heart that responds quickly to Your voice.
Help me to trust Your timing more than my own understanding and to obey even when I cannot see the full picture.
May I never miss what You desire to do because I delayed saying yes.
In Jesus’ name,

St. Matthew 10:19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. St. Matthew 10:20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
Loneliness because you belong to Jesus Christ is the price you pay to build yourself up, and the greatest thing you can build is yourself in Him, with you decreasing and Him increasing in your life that His glory in you may be made manifest.
Truth is, “The mind does not fear the truth first. It fears the life the truth will demand. That is why denial feels calm. It postpones a decision, not a consequence.” No wonder we get the wages of sin, which is death.
Believers should understand that sometimes our prayers are answered but the answer is No!
In other word, “You cannot think your way into becoming the person only your actions can introduce. When the storm beats the tree, many birds fly away—but the one that remains through the thunder is the one that truly calls it home.”
Is sin not attractive to you?
Sin keeps inviting you, “Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you’ll be able to see further, for you are a magnet for success and opportunities.”
Beloved, all that ends in this world. You will soon discovered, albeit too late that all that gilliters are not gold, and that vanity upon vanity, is a life lived without Jesus Christ.
Remember that one day you will wake up and do things for the last time without knowing it’s the last time. The sleep or that going out or coming in, eating, fighting, quarrelling etc will look normal, yet will be the last time! Nothing extra ordinary except that you would have said good night on the earthly side and find yourself woke up on the otherside of the terrestrial. There you have welcome to your eternity in heaven or hell, on the right or left side of Jesus who you obeyed or betrayed, condemned, rejected and ignored when you had the opportunity to accept on earth.
Unfortunately, you cannot and have not the luxury of a repeat journey! Then you will remember the saying that, “Most betrayals begin long before trust is broken. They begin the day curiosity ends. The moment someone believes they no longer need to understand you, they begin speaking to a memory instead of a person.”
