Vanity, All is Vanity

Text: Ecclesiastes 1:2-3
“Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.
Ecclesiastes 1:3 What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?

Message

Vanity of vanities; all is vanity, which is a statement at the beginning of the Book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament . The pointlessness of human activity is the major theme of the book. The author, however, like Job , insists that God’s laws must be kept, whether keeping them results in happiness or sorrow.

Truth is, life is strange. You come with nothing and fight for everything, and in the end, you leave everything and go with nothing.

Ecclesiates 1:4, “One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.”

God has taught me many lessons. One is that the same path sometimes produces different results. So, I learnt to be kind in success, resilient when I fail, and remain strong in hard times.

I have had a lot of near deaths encounter physical and spiritual, but I’m alive. However, I know one guy who fell from a bicycle and broke his arm. The arm got complicated and was chopped off. No sooner did he die!

So, I learnt to thank God even when the score sheet is against me. At least that league is over, the whistle for the specific encounter is blown, and I am opportune to prepare more for the next week. After all, the Guiness Book of record is on daily under review. My case is not closed, and overtaking is allowed in the kingdom.

I was listening to Cosmas Maduka (Coscharis Motors) speaking about commitment and focus in business. I know there were hundreds of his age mates who were more focused but got nothing in life.

I feel life has no formula. The outcomes are stochastic and uncertain.

Similar situation but has different results and realities.

I wasn’t the only one who studied hard in my school days. As a matter of fact, some guys got really sharp grades and were much more hardworking. Yet, their efforts haven’t translated into progress in life.

I pity those who think life has a formula. No! Life has no formula. That’s why I dont envy people who, when they get successful, started, or arrive earlier, think they are smarter, more intelligent, or prayed harder than others.

Trully, life is not just by power, effort, commitment, and dedication only. I say unto you, many people are out there who were extremely dedicated and willing, but life said no until God’s beautiful time for them is reached.

Beyond efforts, prayers, and creed, I think we all can agree that the only thing we can understand in life is that we can’t understand life.

When you see people fall into troubles and issues… don’t laugh. Learn and pray. No one is immuned to misfortune. No, not one.

God bless you.
