Give, and It Shall Be Given Unto You
Text: Luke 6:38
“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
message:
God has always been a distributor of the great wealth He has. And He calls us to be distributors too in His kingdom.
When God blesses you, it’s not just for you. He expects us to give our time, energy, compassion, money, and talents for the betterment of His kingdom and for humanity.
“As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” – 1 Peter 4:10
So as the Lord blesses you, take care of yourself and others as needed. This delights the Father.
“Thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant…” – Deuteronomy 8:18
God gives us wealth and resources so we can meet needs and advance His purposes.
Be generous. Be kind one to another.
“He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.” Proverbs 19:17
Some may take advantage or take you for granted. Don’t worry. God also gives wisdom to direct you.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5
Give with wisdom, and don’t forget: “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” – Mark 12:31. That includes loving and caring for yourself too.
The Bible warns that some hoard to their own hurt, but those who share find joy.
_”There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. Proverbs 11:24
“In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.” – Ecclesiastes 11:6
God’s system is simple: Give, and it will be given back to you. When you become a channel, God keeps the stream flowing.
Give freely, give wisely, and give cheerfully. As you take care of others, God will take care of you. Your seed will not be lost.
Prayer:
- Father, make me a cheerful and wise giver.
- Lord, grant me wisdom to give and to take care of myself.
