Know Your Worth In Christ Jesus

Text: 1 Peter 2:9-10

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.”

Message

We learn through the Old Testament that God chose the Israelites to be His chosen people and this treasure and sacredness of being chosen continues into the New Testament and into today. The good news is that if you too have come to Jesus in faith, He says, “You did not choose me, but I chose you.” John 15:16. So, you and I are chosen. Alleluia.

What does the Bible say about being chosen?

It means the Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession”(Deuteronomy 7:6).

You are as a faith anchored, adopted, descendant or clan of Abraham been selected from among all the families of the earth as a chosen generation, favored, better, chosen, or the elect race.

When Peter says, “You are a chosen generation,” he is emphasizing God’s loving initiative in salvation. God draws us to Himself and places us, as living representative of His on earth.

What does it means to be a chosen generation?

Being chosen can provide a sense of purpose. We have been chosen by God to worship only him and to fulfill the mission of proclaiming his truth among all the nations of the world.

In the Bible, we learn that because God has chosen us, we can live not just for ourselves, but for God and others as well. Being chosen by a child can extend that sense of purpose.

Being chosen includes being a faithful member of the Church who have taken upon themselves the name of Christ and been adopted into his family.

What is the attitude of the chosen generation?

To have an attitude of God’s chosen generation, royal priesthood, and holy nation we must be “proactive, confident, and humble.” We must actively strive for righteousness, boldly proclaim our God, and yet humbly know our place.

What a fascinating picture of Christian living portrays as a royal priesthood, and it has qualities such as nobility, charm, authority, wealth, freedom. In every place, in every seasons of life, God has called us to be a royal priesthood, to be a noble and peculiar, in every nation, tribe and tongue.

How do I know if I’m a chosen one?

If you feel like you have been the chosen one, there are evident signs God has chosen you. These includes: You have been called to a higher purpose, your life mirrors Biblical events, you feel an unseen support system, you have spiritual discernment, you’re drawn to people who need help, your gifts are being used for God and good and you are not ashamed of the gospel and the cross of Jesus Christ. You may ask, what is a chosen child of God and why am I chosen by God?

What is a chosen child of God?

God chooses all those who are willing to choose Him. When I choose to be in a relationship with Christ, I become a chosen child of God. The Christian doctrine of election describes the action whereby Christ chooses all who are willing to choose Him.

Also, in the Bible days, God Almighty made a choice among all the people He created and set them apart to execute the important purposes of His providence. That they were chosen to this high destiny was not on account of their extraordinary merits, but because God wanted to illustrate His glory to all mankind through them. So God choose you that by you mankind may see God in action.

Now, what has all that has been said to do with our theme, ” Know your worth”, you asked?

First know your worth, second control your emotion and lastly, never settle for less treatment.

Never put temporary people or things in the permanent place of your life. Don’t be afraid of removing the wrong people and things from the right place of your life. If it’s your life then it’s your right. Be bold to take any decision concerning your life. If they call it pride, tell them it’s class. You are of the class God said is,

“a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.”

May we not abuse our worth or purpose in Jesus Name.
