God Needs No Permission
Text: St. Matthew 21:2
Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.
There is so much in this passage that deserves our attention because it invites healthy introspection on our parts.
The loose of a donkey and her child not used before until Jesus was in need of them changed my prayer altar to, “Father, just be in need of me, and the rest is done.”
The narration began with a donkey tied down to one spot since birth, with a colt. Jesus knew exactly where they were and their precarious condition. For as long as the donkey is tied she is with the colt limited and stagnated.
Jesus said they willshall find an ass tied, and a colt with her, both were found. Good news, loose them, and bring them unto me. Jesus needed them, so no one could question where they are let go and who ordered.
Had the owner asked, Jesus already instructed that owner be told that the God of all creation is in need of both and let go they must.
When God is in need of you, no one can stop you. This is proof that God is the God of all flesh and that He is in charge of all things including our lives. God needs no permission from your enemies, friends or family to show forth his glory in your life.
The right time for the ass and colt came and God undertook for them. The Jewish leaders weren’t as fond of Jesus as the general populace happened to be, but they observed and conspired while the people began praising Jesus.
Hearing that Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem, people started grabbing palm branches to spread upon the road.
Going out to meet Him, they cried out “Hosanna!” That’s a Hebrew word that means, “Save now!” But what kind of salvation were they seeking? What kind of king or saviour did they really want Jesus to be? What kind of king do we want Jesus to be? What kind of savior do we want Him to be?
