You Will Overcome One Day
Text: Psalms 30:5
“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
Message
Psalm 30:5 says two related things of equal consoling importance.
One, that the anger of God endures for a moment. In other words, God is not going to be angry with you forever. His loving kindness and mercies will not permit He to be angry forever.
Two, which is the issue for today, that weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning, the breaking of your day!
In other words, when the nights are long and the sorrow is unrelenting and you wonder if it’s ever going to end, Psalm 30, verse 5 makes clear, it is going to end sooner than you expect. The sorrow in your life will not have the last word in you.
While ‘cry’ is the more general term, ‘sob’ is noisier and ‘weep’ is a more quiet and subdued internal tears often because inly God and you understand the pain!
David, as someone who had experienced a lifetime of heartache and godly favour, wrote Psalm 30:5 from experience, knowing that any pain, anxiety, and struggle he would face in life were only temporary.
In David’s darkest and most desperate hours, David had called out to the Lord, and God had answered him, not once, not twice but at every point, place, and every time!
Your sorrow won’t last forever. His Word says that, even if you cry all night long–all the way through your dark night of the soul–the morning is still coming.
The God who said, “Blessed are you who weep now” (Luke 6:21).
“God will not reproach you for the tears you shed as you walk through the ruins of our broken world.”
I love Hebrews 11:32-40, “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
Hebrews 11:33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
Hebrews 11:34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Hebrews 11:35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
Hebrews 11:36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
Hebrews 11:37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
Hebrews 11:38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
Hebrews 11:39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
Hebrews 11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.”
Brethren, no matter the situation, circumstance, heat of the moment, your coming morning is unstoppable. Remain in faith.
God bless you.
