Don’t Give Your Problem The Throne
Text: Luke 1:37
For with God, nothing shall be impossible.
Message
A throne is the seat of state of a potentate or dignitary, especially the seat occupied by a sovereign (or viceroy) on state occasions; or the seat occupied by a pope or bishop on ceremonial occasions.
To give your problem, the throne is to make it your foundation, conviction, fear pressed button, object of focus, and glory. It is idolatry and a sin of the highest order.
Don’t give your problems the throne, instead give God the glory and give Him the throne in faith and in reality of your being. In any case, God is the One on the throne, and who sits on God’s throne?
The one who sits upon the throne is the transcendent God above all, the transcendent center of all, the transcendent beginning and end of all. As John’s vision proceeds from sight to sound, the various hymns of the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders further confirm the transcendent uniqueness of God (Revelation 4:1-3).
God is and will forever remain on the throne as He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Why is that? It is because many are the plans of man, but it is the counsel of the Lord that stands (Proverbs 19:21).
Now, your problem may have sold you to slavery but God sent you to save many nations (Genesis 45:4-5). That’s to remind you that everything may not be good right now, but no worry, everything will end working for your good, and you will be alright (Romans 8:28).
Joshua was not promised by God easy, effortless victory and glory. Not at all. He is to conquer the land step by step, foot by foot, keep all the laws of God as given by his mentor Moses, remain strong and of good courage.
Bear in mind that no challenge you are facing is bigger than the God who lives in you. God warned Joshua not to honour his problems with too much attention, anxiety, or fear. Instead, he is to honour God with trust, faith, and obedience. By so doing, God will guide him through the storm and give him the strength to overcome. He will fight the inhabitants of the land and conquer them not just by his military skill but by courage, and faithful daily reading and meditation of the word of God, turning to no right or left from it, but all the way in total and complete obedience to it.
Beloved, this one chance life on earth is a battle, be ever prepared for conflict. To inherit the land God has promised your generations requires you first conquer the illegal and interim occupants of the land and don’t expect them to easily yield or step aside for you. They are not afraid of you! They will give you the fight of your life, and you have to conquer them. The good news is that you are a conqueror. It is in withstanding them that your fear will come upon them and they will melt at the mention of your name and bolt away at your presence out of fear.
Conclusion
There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:5-9.
