Kingdom Authority in Everyday Life<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MESSAGE<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/em>Authority is different from power in a crucial biblical sense \u2014 power is raw ability to act, while authority is the delegated right to exercise that power on behalf of another. When Jesus tells the seventy returning disciples in Luke 10:19 that He has given them authority (Greek exousia) over “all the power” (dynamis) of the enemy, He is describing something specific: believers do not generate their own spiritual power, but they carry Christ’s delegated authority, which is greater than any power the enemy possesses. This distinction matters because authority operates by right, not by strength \u2014 a police officer’s authority to stop traffic does not depend on being physically stronger than the largest vehicle on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This declaration comes immediately after the seventy return from a mission trip, reporting with amazement, “Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name” (Luke 10:17). Jesus’s response affirms their experience but redirects their amazement toward something more foundational: “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20). Authority, in other words, is real and significant, but identity and relationship with God remain the deeper foundation beneath any demonstration of power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Old Testament illustration of delegated kingdom authority operating in everyday circumstances is found in Joseph’s rise in Egypt (Genesis 41:37\u201344). Pharaoh, recognizing the Spirit of God in Joseph, placed him over all the land of Egypt, declaring, “without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt” (Genesis 41:44). This authority was not primarily exercised through dramatic supernatural confrontation but through everyday administrative wisdom \u2014 managing grain storage, overseeing famine relief, and governing the practical economic life of a nation for years. Joseph’s authority operated in ordinary decisions made daily, not merely in isolated miraculous moments, illustrating that kingdom authority is meant to function continuously in the mundane responsibilities of life, not only in crisis or confrontation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New Testament illustration of authority operating in daily life is the account of Peter and John at the temple gate called Beautiful (Acts 3:1\u201310). Encountering a man lame from birth who was begging, Peter did not offer money but authority: “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk” (Acts 3:6). This was not a dramatic confrontation with organized demonic opposition but an ordinary daily encounter \u2014 Peter and John were simply walking to afternoon prayer as they regularly did (Acts 3:1) \u2014 that became an opportunity for kingdom authority to intersect with an everyday need. The healed man’s immediate response was to enter the temple “walking, and leaping, and praising God” (Acts 3:8), and the resulting testimony opened the door for Peter to preach to a gathered crowd, leading to about five thousand men believing (Acts 4:4). Authority exercised in an ordinary moment produced extraordinary kingdom impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is important to correctly understand the scope of Luke 10:19’s promise, “nothing shall by any means hurt you.” This is not a blanket guarantee against all suffering \u2014 Paul, who certainly walked in remarkable spiritual authority, still suffered shipwrecks, beatings, and eventual martyrdom. Rather, the promise concerns the specific domain described in context: authority over the enemy’s power to ultimately destroy or defeat a believer’s kingdom purpose. Serpents and scorpions in the ancient world represented both literal dangers and symbolic pictures of hidden, poisonous threats \u2014 the point is that believers are equipped with authority that neutralizes what would otherwise be fatal spiritual danger, even while natural hardship remains part of life in a fallen world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This authority is grounded entirely in Christ’s own authority, not an independent human capacity. Matthew 28:18 records Jesus declaring, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth,” immediately before commissioning the disciples to go into all the world \u2014 the Great Commission is issued from a position of total, established authority, and believers operate as authorized representatives of that authority, not as independent power sources. Ephesians 1:19\u201321 describes believers as seated with Christ “far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion” \u2014 positional authority granted through union with Christ, not earned through spiritual achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practically, walking in kingdom authority in everyday life means recognizing that ordinary moments \u2014 a conversation at work, a decision at home, an encounter with someone in need \u2014 are legitimate arenas for kingdom authority to operate, just as Peter and John’s authority operated on an ordinary walk to prayer, not only in dramatic ministry settings. It means exercising authority through the name of Jesus rather than personal charisma or willpower, following Peter’s explicit model at the temple gate. It also means, as Jesus redirected the seventy, keeping identity and relationship with God as the deeper source of confidence rather than becoming preoccupied with visible demonstrations of power alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conclusion of this truth is that all kingdom authority flows from Christ’s finished victory. He disarmed principalities and powers at the cross (Colossians 2:15) and now shares that authority with those united to Him by faith. You do not need to manufacture spiritual power today; you are invited to walk in the authority already delegated to you, exercising it in the very ordinary circumstances that make up daily life \u2014 trusting that the same Christ who commissioned the seventy and empowered Peter at the temple gate continues to work through His people in every generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I carry the delegated authority of Christ over all the power of the enemy. Nothing that comes against my kingdom purpose can ultimately prevail. I exercise this authority daily, in ordinary moments, in the name of Jesus, and my confidence rests not in power alone but in my identity in Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Loneliness because you belong to Jesus Christ is the price you pay to build yourself up, and the greatest thing you can build is yourself in Him, with you decreasing and Him increasing in your life that His glory in you may be made manifest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Truth is, “The mind does not fear the truth first. It fears the life the truth will demand. That is why denial feels calm. It postpones a decision, not a consequence.” No wonder we get the wages of sin, which is death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Believers should understand that sometimes our prayers are answered but the answer is No!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      In other word, “You cannot think your way into becoming the person only your actions can introduce. When the storm beats the tree, many birds fly away\u2014but the one that remains through the thunder is the one that truly calls it home.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Is sin not attractive to you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Sin keeps inviting you, “Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you\u2019ll be able to see further, for you are a magnet for success and opportunities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Beloved, all that ends in this world. You will soon discovered, albeit too late that all that gilliters are not gold, and that vanity upon vanity, is a life lived without Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Remember that one day you will wake up and do things for the last time without knowing it\u2019s the last time. The sleep or that going out or coming in, eating, fighting, quarrelling etc will look normal, yet will be the last time! Nothing extra ordinary except that you would have said good night on the earthly side and find yourself woke up on the otherside of the terrestrial. There you have welcome to your eternity in heaven or hell, on the right or left side of Jesus who you obeyed or betrayed, condemned, rejected and ignored when you had the opportunity to accept on earth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Unfortunately, you cannot and have not the luxury of a repeat journey! Then you will remember the saying that, “Most betrayals begin long before trust is broken. They begin the day curiosity ends. The moment someone believes they no longer need to understand you, they begin speaking to a memory instead of a person.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Accept and follow Jesus now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
