STANDING FIRM IN CHRIST’S VICTORY: LIVING AN UNMOVABLE LIFE IN SPIRITUAL TRUTH<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Text: 1 Corinthians 15:58<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MESSAGE<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Victory that is not sustained becomes vulnerable. Many believers experience breakthrough, only to be shaken again when pressure returns. This reveals a deeper need\u2014not just to receive victory, but to stand in it. Standing firm is not passive; it is a deliberate posture of the soul that refuses to be relocated by circumstance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul’s instruction in 1 Corinthians 15:58 comes immediately after his great declaration on resurrection victory: “thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (v. 57). The conclusion he draws is not “relax” but “be steadfast, immovable.” Victory secured must become victory sustained.
The word “immovable” describes something fixed\u2014unable to be shifted from its foundation. This is not stubbornness; it is stability rooted in truth. A believer who is immovable does not deny the storm; they simply refuse to let the storm determine their position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV) reinforces this posture of standing: “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Notice the repeated emphasis: withstand, stand. Warfare is not always about advancing\u2014sometimes it is about holding ground already won. The armor of God is not designed for retreat; it is designed for a soldier who remains positioned after the battle has begun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A powerful picture of this is found in Daniel 3. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did not move when threatened with the furnace. Their answer to the king reveals immovable faith: “our God whom we serve is able to deliver us\u2026 but if not, we will not serve your gods” (Daniel 3:17\u201318). Their firmness was not dependent on the outcome\u2014it was rooted in conviction. This is what it means to stand: to remain fixed in truth even before deliverance is visible.
Standing firm requires knowing what you are standing on. Matthew 7:24\u201325 (NKJV) illustrates this: “Whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock\u2026 and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The storm came to both the wise and foolish builder. The difference was not the absence of pressure but the presence of foundation. An unmovable life is not one without trials; it is one with an unshakable base. Hebrews 12:28 (NKJV) further reveals this truth: “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Believers are already part of an unshakable kingdom. Standing firm, therefore, is not striving to create stability\u2014it is aligning with a stability that already exists in Christ.
James 1:6 (NKJV) warns against the opposite condition: “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instability in faith produces instability in life. A double-minded believer is easily relocated by pressure, opinion, or fear. But a settled believer, rooted in the finished work of Christ, remains anchored regardless of what shifts around them.
Standing firm also means resisting spiritual fatigue. Galatians 6:9 (NKJV) says: “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many believers lose ground not through a single dramatic fall, but through gradual weariness\u2014small compromises, slow disengagement from prayer, quiet erosion of conviction. Standing firm requires daily renewal of resolve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The life of Job also demonstrates unmovable faith. Though he lost possessions, family, and health, his declaration remained fixed: “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him” (Job 13:15). Job’s stability was not in his circumstances\u2014it was in his relationship with God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To live an unmovable life, the believer must: \u2022 Root identity in Christ’s finished work, not shifting emotions \u2022 Anchor conviction in Scripture, not public opinion \u2022 Maintain consistency in prayer and the Word, not just in crisis \u2022 Refuse retreat when pressure arises, choosing instead to stand \u2022 Trust God’s character even when outcomes are unclear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the essence of spoiling principalities and powers – not merely winning isolated battles, but occupying territory and refusing to surrender it back to the enemy through fear, doubt, or fatigue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An unmovable life does not mean an untested life. It means a life so rooted in Christ’s victory that no test can uproot it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      St. Matthew 10:19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. St. Matthew 10:20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Loneliness because you belong to Jesus Christ is the price you pay to build yourself up, and the greatest thing you can build is yourself in Him, with you decreasing and Him increasing in your life that His glory in you may be made manifest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Truth is, “The mind does not fear the truth first. It fears the life the truth will demand. That is why denial feels calm. It postpones a decision, not a consequence.” No wonder we get the wages of sin, which is death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Believers should understand that sometimes our prayers are answered but the answer is No!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      In other word, “You cannot think your way into becoming the person only your actions can introduce. When the storm beats the tree, many birds fly away\u2014but the one that remains through the thunder is the one that truly calls it home.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Is sin not attractive to you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Sin keeps inviting you, “Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you\u2019ll be able to see further, for you are a magnet for success and opportunities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Beloved, all that ends in this world. You will soon discovered, albeit too late that all that gilliters are not gold, and that vanity upon vanity, is a life lived without Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Remember that one day you will wake up and do things for the last time without knowing it\u2019s the last time. The sleep or that going out or coming in, eating, fighting, quarrelling etc will look normal, yet will be the last time! Nothing extra ordinary except that you would have said good night on the earthly side and find yourself woke up on the otherside of the terrestrial. There you have welcome to your eternity in heaven or hell, on the right or left side of Jesus who you obeyed or betrayed, condemned, rejected and ignored when you had the opportunity to accept on earth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Unfortunately, you cannot and have not the luxury of a repeat journey! Then you will remember the saying that, “Most betrayals begin long before trust is broken. They begin the day curiosity ends. The moment someone believes they no longer need to understand you, they begin speaking to a memory instead of a person.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Accept and follow Jesus now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
